The article addresses the recent decision, as part of BBC's cut funds, to remove the niche channel BBC3 to becoming strictly on-line, which was approved by the BBC Trust. However, ideas began to arose entailing the opportunity for there to be a BB1+1 Channel, but this was rejected because of its likely to impact commercial rivals including ITV and Channel 5. This leaves the decision for BBC3 to be removed from TV in January 2016 and then becoming an online platform. 


This article outlines the extensive cuts made by BBC in regards to channels and most importantly, jobs - describing the brand as becoming "leaner and simpler". The most profound reasoning for this is due to the shortfall in funding and growing political pressure from the Conservative governement.
